The Mega Region Sonora-Arizona is responding to the challenges of the post-COVID realities, anticipating and preparing to turn threats into opportunities for survival and growth:
IN April 21st, April 28 and May 5, 2020, PI SONORA ARIZONA and the PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT GLOBAL NETWORK organized and gathered more than 150 professionals, institutions and sponsors from Sonora and Arizona in a series of Zoom townhalls that generated new projects in four key areas:
SOCIAL IMPACT: repurposing, transforming, reskilling and retraining for new jobs, changes in processes, products, services and value chains and establishing social networks to support families and communities with models such as PESCAR -winner of the 2020 Roger Kaufman Award-
TOURISM- Transforming hotels into hospitals and residences during the first stage of the pandemic, repurposing and reorganizing the industry in new areas for the post-lockdown challenges, following the NH and other examples.
FOOD AND AGRIBUSINESS – Rethinking and strengthening the quality standards and addressing healthcare concerns while keeping the food supply and jobs in both Sonora and Arizona
LOGISTICS & TRADE- Introducing technological first responders -4,000 usd ventilators made in the region and other critical healthcare PPE- and developing new areas for applied research connecting entrepreneurs, labs and universities.
